The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dale Kirkpatrick's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgardo Silva in the 9th minute of play forced University of Rochester's goalkeeper Drew Casey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dale Kirkpatrick got free with Jeremy Nicholas in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Drew Casey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edgardo Silva in the 29th minute of the match. Drew Casey stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edgardo Silva's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. In the 32nd minute Tony Pacheco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Drew Casey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeremy Nicholas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ture Skark in the 39th minute of the match. In the 40th minute Edgardo Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Drew Casey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of New England Minas booed when University of Rochester was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernesto Cao Xiao didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jörgen Frohm took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 43rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Drew Casey. University of Rochester's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edgardo Silva was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute, Tony Pacheco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edgardo Silva scored 0-1 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Drew Casey, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Dale Kirkpatrick recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. New England Minas's attentive Glen Conklin managed to snatch the ball when Eric Herget made a throw-in in the 61st minute of the game. New England Minas made a substitution. Hipolito Emenon replaced Jörgen Frohm. New England Minas's Tio Lio was substituted for Edgardo Silva. New England Minas's Emmitt Benson was substituted for Alperen Öksüz. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tio Lio got free with Drew Casey in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A nice corner shot did that Lalo Rosas got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Drew Casey quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 70th match minute, New England Minas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ye Gang Cheng to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 71 minutes, Dale Kirkpatrick managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. University of Rochester's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dale Kirkpatrick was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 75 minutes of play, New England Minas's Tio Lio made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Drew Casey was left in no man's land by his defense there! Wayne Bragg kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Drew Casey made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Tio Lio sent off a good shot on target. In the 85th minute of the game, Maxwell Calcagnini landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. 86 minutes into the game, Ye Gang Cheng was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. New England Minas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave University of Rochester the free kick. University of Rochester made a substitution. Sherman Morse replaced Maxwell Calcagnini. In the 87th match minute, New England Minas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ye Gang Cheng to maneuver through the defense. Dale Kirkpatrick recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jeremy Nicholas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dale Kirkpatrick in the 91st minute of the match. In the 93rd minute, New England Minas's Tio Lio dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. New England Minas had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
