Sportsmen, athletes, football players, handball players, basketball players and all the persons involved in this kind of competition are exposed to high blood pressure on their hearts which make their work dangerous and difficult to perform.

Sometimes team owners forget that their sportsmen are human beings and do not check them if they are ready for the competition and they send them on the field without supervision.

It was the case of a 21 year old football player from Nigeria, Chinonso Ihelewere Henry who played for Delta Tulcea in Romania Second Division and unfortunately suffered a heart attack and died on the football field Sunday 5 August 2012 12:57 after 10 minutes of play:(

The tragedy could have been avoided if medical cardio check-ups was implemented in football today before all matches official of friendly matches but unfortunately we do not have this kind of rule in sports and lots and lots of sports participants are exposed to heart attacks and brain damage due to extreme conditions they have to face.

Cardio check-ups are very simple and not painful procedures that save life and the results are shown immediate. A doctor can uses a aneroid sphygmomanometers upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ae/Sphygm... with a stethoscope upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d2/Stetho... or an electrocardiography device to make sure his patients is cardio healthy or not and to prescribe the best medical treatment for a fast recovery.

If a player is found with a cardio problem, the team owner must retire him and offer a retirement pension for the work he/she has done inside the team.

I hope Sepp Blatter, Michel Platini and all sport federation presidents will introduce cardio check-ups for all sportsmen as an obligation procedure before each match and competition so that tragedies like this will not happened again.

Rest In Peace, Henry Chinoso, thank you for your work inside Delta Tulcea (2010-2012, 14 goals in 37 matches) and FC Farul 1920 (2007-2010) !!!

It's a really sad thing and you are absolutely right about this cardio check-up for footballers before a match. But I highly doubt that FIFA or UEFA will implement it in the near future after they already needed so much time to allow goal-line-technology.

Rest In Peace... I believe that every soccer field should have a First aid kit and an AED for Cardiac arrests.. many players have lost their lives due to this... ;

This is BS! Forget FIFA lets start small and make this happen in our neighborhoods..! Then FIFA will automatically put it in their rule books....

Lives are more Important than money! and we should do everything to prevent it.. !!!

Woah..RIP to this fellow..and yes I do agree with you, instead of wasting such money on cardiologists and other things as such, you can make the team doctors check every player before the game. That way, not only does it give the team doctors something to do and it saves money aswell. I hope to see these little things implemented to save 100's or maybe 1000's of lives at risk, however, FIFA and UEFA are the most unresponsible bunch of humans I've ever come across.

The thing is checking beforehand does not really has any use because cardic arrest can just happen to anyone at anytime. What is more important is that they has medical equipment like AED there.

I know about this because we take all these medical course in the singapore army and I got full mark for it.

AED is not really expensive :p

What I feel is that the they should offer every club an AED. After all, cardio check-up will be more costly.

Romanian Amateur and Non-Amateur Football Association (R.A.N.A.F.A.-A.F.A.N) has finally requested Romanian Football Federation (FRF) and Romanian Professional Football League (LPF) to change the Rules of Organizing Football Activity (ROAF) so that all football clubs in Romania will be forced to do medical cardio check-ups to their football players before any kind of football matches official or friendly.

Plus Romanian Amateur and Non-Amateur Football Association has also requested that all football matches, officials and friendly will only be played with the supervision of an Ambulance Team Paramedics present near the stadium/football field so that tragedies like this one will never happen again.
